- Ryn Hicks | Soul Nectar Yoga
< All Staff Ryn Hicks Yoga to me is the movement of body, mind, and breath in a direction towards wellness. I started practicing yoga in 2019 after struggling with unresolved traumas that manifested into physical, mental, and emotional ailments. Yoga and meditation truly saved my life on so many levels. After my own experiences I decided to become a yoga teacher to help others heal and grow. In 2024 I got my certified for RYT200 from Updog Yoga. Besides yoga I love nature, animals, and traveling. Some of my other hobbies include reading, crocheting, and homesteading. During my classes you can expect to be challenged and fully supported where you are mentally and physically. I like to incorporate meditation into savasana. You will leave feeling accomplished and grounded. I look forward to seeing you soon! Namaste.
- Lisa Madden | Soul Nectar Yoga
< All Staff Lisa Madden I thrive in a culture of constant learning, and I love to guide others in their own growth. There is nothing like the reaction of a new student after their first class! Yoga is indeed life changing. My own journey began in 2000 with 2 Shiva Rea Yoga CDs and a poster of poses. As my home practice evolved, I soon discovered that it was more than my physical body that was transforming. At that time, my full-time day job was professional development for K-12 educators, so I had the opportunity to share yoga in various informal venues (because they needed it!). I loved teaching yoga SO MUCH! I eventually completed a Yoga Alliance 200-hr Yoga Teacher training in 2014 at Updog Yoga in Rochester, MI. I then studied Thai Yoga Massage with Duane Utech, former owner of Updog Yoga; and with Shai Plonski, founder of Still Light Centre School of Thai Massage in Toronto. In 2016, I founded In2 Yoga in Lapeer, MI, while continuing studies in Yoga Therapy at Beaumont Hospital and International Institute of Yoga Therapy (previously Beaumont Hospital School of Yoga Therapy). I have studied Yin Yoga under Joe Barnett, and Restorative Yoga with Jillian Pransky. My yoga life continues to evolve in beautiful in unexpected ways being certified in C-IAYT Yoga Therapist, 500 E-RYT, YACEP. In 2021, I stepped down from studio ownership, knowing that the yoga vibe will continue to THRIVE with ownership and the leadership of Lauren Malone as Soul Nectar Yoga + Wellness. I am still very active in the studio for group classes, workshops, and private sessions for Yoga Therapy, Thai Yoga Massage, and more!
- Susan Miller | Soul Nectar Yoga
< All Staff Susan Miller If you asked me 5 or 10 years if I would be a regular yoga practitioner, let alone a teacher- I would have laughed. Life unfolds in beautiful ways when we stop looking outward and look within. I took my first yoga class around 2010, I was in college and needed to fulfill a PE credit. The style of yoga taught during this class didn’t resonate with me at the time, it was a solely physical practice. Fast forward to 2020, if living through a global pandemic wasn’t enough- I also lost my mom within 2 weeks of the stay home order. She was a 2 time breast cancer survivor and the strongest person I knew. The following year I found the strength to leave an abusive marriage and began rearranging the pieces of my life in a new way. On my journey back to myself, I tried multiple physical practices like joining a gym, Pilates and of course yoga. The physical movement along with spiritual practices such as astrology, tarot and reiki lead me back to myself. The physicality of movement in Pilates and yoga helped me to get out of my mind and into my body in ways I hadn’t before experienced with other physical practice. As someone who has struggled with body image issues, anxiety, and self confidence the majority of my life- yoga felt like a safe space. A place where I could come back to myself, be one with my body and my breath, appreciate everything that my body is and does, and get out of my own head for a while. All of these practices have been immensely healing for me. Through teaching and my services, my goal is to pay it forward. Bring love, safety and compassion to those I serve. I can’t wait to meet you, imperfectly, as you are.
- Lauren Malone | Soul Nectar Yoga
< All Staff Lauren Malone Soul Nectar Owner Owner & Founder of Soul Nectar Yoga + Wellness, Subtle Energy Practitioner, Vibrational Sound Therapist, "Relaxation Artist" "You are a Sacred Place. The sanctuary of your inner landscape is where you will find yourself, again and again." I have always been a seeker! Growing up in the wooded area of Metamora, MI, as a young child I was always looking for signs and messages from the natural world around me. When I was a teenager I was introduced to the world of subtle energy healing through my Great Aunt and caught glimpses of the vastness of healing and wholeness, moments of authentic love and divine truth. I was introduced to yoga in my late teen years (purely for fitness purposes) and began to teach a physical style of class for the next few years. Life in my early twenties took some grave twists and turns through addiction and depression, a shadowy time that gratefully led me to discover mindfulness and meditation. This ultimately led me back to a reinvented and soulful yoga practice that truly saved my life! Since then, I have been guided by skillful teachers, an amazing yoga community, and my own devoted curiosity; my practice has evolved and continues to do so each and every day. In 2016 I graduated from 200YTT, I have since focused my self-studies and trainings in the areas of restorative yoga, vibrational sound therapy, somatics and the subtle body. I am honored to own, serve and teach multiple weekly practices in the heart of Lapeer at Soul Nectar . I tend to take a more energetic and restorative approach in my personal practice, as well as in teaching others. I aim to create a blissful Yoga experience for each unique student, providing a beautiful and spacious exploration of the body and heart to nourish the soul and soothe the mind. soulnectaryogalapeer@gmail.com 810-412-8564
