  • Susan Miller | Soul Nectar Yoga

< All Staff Susan Miller If you asked me 5 or 10 years if I would be a regular yoga practitioner, let alone a teacher- I would have laughed. Life unfolds in beautiful ways when we stop looking outward and look within. I took my first yoga class around 2010, I was in college and needed to fulfill a PE credit. The style of yoga taught during this class didn’t resonate with me at the time, it was a solely physical practice. Fast forward to 2020, if living through a global pandemic wasn’t enough- I also lost my mom within 2 weeks of the stay home order. She was a 2 time breast cancer survivor and the strongest person I knew. The following year I found the strength to leave an abusive marriage and began rearranging the pieces of my life in a new way. On my journey back to myself, I tried multiple physical practices like joining a gym, Pilates and of course yoga. The physical movement along with spiritual practices such as astrology, tarot and reiki lead me back to myself. The physicality of movement in Pilates and yoga helped me to get out of my mind and into my body in ways I hadn’t before experienced with other physical practice. As someone who has struggled with body image issues, anxiety, and self confidence the majority of my life- yoga felt like a safe space. A place where I could come back to myself, be one with my body and my breath, appreciate everything that my body is and does, and get out of my own head for a while. All of these practices have been immensely healing for me. Through teaching and my services, my goal is to pay it forward. Bring love, safety and compassion to those I serve. I can’t wait to meet you, imperfectly, as you are.

  • Lauren Malone | Soul Nectar Yoga

< All Staff Lauren Malone Soul Nectar Owner Owner & Founder of Soul Nectar Yoga + Wellness, Subtle Energy Practitioner, Vibrational Sound Therapist, "Relaxation Artist" "You are a Sacred Place. The sanctuary of your inner landscape is where you will find yourself, again and again." I have always been a seeker! Growing up in the wooded area of Metamora, MI, as a young child I was always looking for signs and messages from the natural world around me. When I was a teenager I was introduced to the world of subtle energy healing through my Great Aunt and caught glimpses of the vastness of healing and wholeness, moments of authentic love and divine truth. I was introduced to yoga in my late teen years (purely for fitness purposes) and began to teach a physical style of class for the next few years. Life in my early twenties took some grave twists and turns through addiction and depression, a shadowy time that gratefully led me to discover mindfulness and meditation. This ultimately led me back to a reinvented and soulful yoga practice that truly saved my life! Since then, I have been guided by skillful teachers, an amazing yoga community, and my own devoted curiosity; my practice has evolved and continues to do so each and every day. In 2016 I graduated from 200YTT, I have since focused my self-studies and trainings in the areas of restorative yoga, vibrational sound therapy, somatics and the subtle body. I am honored to own, serve and teach multiple weekly practices in the heart of Lapeer at Soul Nectar . I tend to take a more energetic and restorative approach in my personal practice, as well as in teaching others. I aim to create a blissful Yoga experience for each unique student, providing a beautiful and spacious exploration of the body and heart to nourish the soul and soothe the mind. soulnectaryogalapeer@gmail.com 810-412-8564

  • Marilee McCarthy | Soul Nectar Yoga

< All Staff Marilee McCarthy I have always been passionate about how movement can transform the mind, body, and soul. Growing up, I enjoyed various physical activities, but asthma began to limit my movement in my 20s. In 2012, a friend took me to my first hot yoga class. Every pore in my body and soul was released; it was an intense experience I wanted to know more about. That experience inspired me to explore yoga further, and with the help of a yoga teacher and a reiki practitioner, I discovered how yoga could help my mental and physical health. I attended UpDog's teacher training in 2017, completed my 200 hours in January 2018 to become certified, and began teaching immediately. Teaching movement and mindfulness is my passion; it has brought me immense joy and fulfillment. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to teach many beautiful souls in various settings, including outdoor classes and sessions with animals like puppies, kittens, and goats! I believe animals are as healing as movement and mindfulness. In 2023, I earned the E-RYT 200 certification to offer continuing education to fellow teachers. Yoga has greatly improved my breathing and overall mental and physical well-being. It has taught me to find balance in my life, breathe better, and relieve my wrist pain. I hope to share yoga's benefits, helping others build a strong foundation for a healthy physical life and promote mental well-being through mindfulness and self-compassion, both on and off the mat. My teaching approach emphasizes that everyone is free to move in a way that best serves their mind, body, and soul. Questions and conversations are welcome to promote mindful exploration. Whether you need space to lie still and breathe or move as it feels right, I provide that. I believe yoga is for every-BODY, and I strive to create a safe and inclusive space for you to explore your practice. I would love to help you create your movement and mindfulness practice. Outside of yoga, I stay active mentally and physically. I enjoy spending time with friends, family, plants, and pets. I have a background in various trades, including vet med, dog training, pet sitting, cosmetology, phlebotomy, and haunted house acting. I enjoy being outside, in the trees, and barefoot mostly. Currently, I am attending the University of Michigan, pursuing my bachelor's/master's in social work.

  • Diana Potter | Soul Nectar Yoga

< All Staff Diana Potter Every time you step on your yoga mat it’s a different journey. I first stepped onto a yoga mat 12 years ago and my life forever changed. That first class challenged me in all sorts of ways, and I was hooked. I immediately started taking a class once a week. That weekly practice of stepping onto the mat changed my everyday life. I found more patience, serenity, compassion, and mindfulness. With the yoga classes, I began to love myself more and found myself being more present in day-to-day things. My personal practice still has me showing up to my mat 3 to 4 days a week, but these days some of my favorite journeys are those I share with my students. Teaching has allowed me to share the practice that I love along with others. When I am able to instill confidence in my students and they surprise themselves with their strength, both physically and mentally, or have a rewarding class learning something new about themselves it fulfills me and I know I have succeeded as their teacher.

  • Jackey Toland | Soul Nectar Yoga

< All Staff Jackey Toland Yoga is a journey and mine began in the summer of 2012 when I was first introduced to meditation and mindfulness practices. After practicing breathwork and meditation for a number of years I decided it was time to attend my first in-studio yoga class. Well not exactly, I signed up and sat in the parking lot twice before finally gaining the courage to attend the class. Growing up, I never did sports or any type of physical training. I knew that once more my mind would find another way to tell me how I was “less than”, this time through the judgment of my own physical abilities in comparison to the other students. What I quickly learned was that yoga was less about the “work-out” and more about the “work-in”. I wasn’t just learning poses but instead, unlearning the stories and mindsets that had once kept me trapped in states of anxiety and sadness. I quickly fell in love with yoga and the inner transformations that it provided and would go on to study at Up Dog of Rochester School of Yoga in the winter of 2017 to complete my 200-hour teaching certificate. As a forever student I lead my classes with this mantra in mind, “As long as you are breathing you are doing yoga.”. Some days my practice looks just like this, sitting and breathing, on other days I find intense movement to be deeply empowering and re-centering. The beauty of this practice is that it meets you wherever you’re at. Whether it be through the practice of movement, intentional breath, or stillness, it is my desire that you too will experience new depths of being YOU in ways that are healing and deeply inspiring.
